What are cosmetic neurotoxins?
Neurotoxins are the broad term used to cover brand names like Botox Cosmetic, Jeuveau, Xeomin, Dysport, and Daxxify. Neurotoxins are a rejuvenating tool in our expert injector’s arsenal that defies time for our patients. This FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure is safe for all skin ethnicities. It utilizes a purified form of botulinum toxin to temporarily smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with just a few relatively pain-free injections.
Botox and other neurotoxins are injectable treatments that temporarily relax targeted facial muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.

Botox:
The most well-known neurotoxin, Botox has a long history of safety and efficacy. It's excellent for treating forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines. In addition, lower face muscles are now included in most botox treatments for desired improvement in lower face line and unwanted effects. The effects of botox are generally seen at 5-7 days and settling in at 2 weeks. The desired effects of a botox treatment typically last 3-4 months, although certain muscle movements may return sooner than later.
Jeuveau:
Often called "Newtox," Jeuveau is a newer neurotoxin that's highly effective for treating frown lines between the eyebrows. It may have a slightly quicker onset than traditional Botox, but the longevity and dosing parallels Botox.
Daxxify:
The latest FDA-approved neurotoxin, Daxxify offers longer-lasting results, potentially up to 6-9 months. It's an excellent option for those seeking more enduring wrinkle reduction. The dosing in units is higher than traditional botox, but the treatment remains the same as the other neurotoxins.
By temporarily weakening and relaxing face muscles responsible for expression lines, Botox keeps new wrinkles from forming and improves current static lines over time with routine treatment. Because Botox prevents creases rather than tightens skin, it's used to prevent dynamic rhytides — aka, wrinkles, formed by repetitive movements in the upper and lower face. The results of this muscle-freezing treatment performed by our expert providers give our patients a refreshed, more youthful look that lasts up to four months and in some cases 6 months with certain neurotoxins.
While Botox can temporarily block nerve communication and muscle movement, the effects are not permanent. To remedy the fading of Botox, our expert injectors recommend a personalized Botox maintenance plan. As months pass after getting the treatment, you'll notice the muscle movement return and the facial wrinkles although improved may return. The good news is that with regular treatment, the wrinkles will become less pronounced.

Neurotoxins Recovery
One of the great advantages of neurotoxin treatments is that there's virtually no downtime. In most cases, you can return to your normal activities immediately after your appointment. To ensure optimal results, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or excessive sweating for 24 hours, lying down for 4 hours post treatment, no rubbing or massaging treatment area for a few days. No facial or face down massage for 7 days.
We ask that you avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to your treatment. In addition, avoid over the counter blood thinning agents, such as motrin, aleve, aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen a few days before and immediately after treatment to avoid bruising.
